The Avenue this year will be hosting the Gold Coast heats for the Airlie Beach Battle of the Bands music Festival.

Gold Coast really brings it when it comes to competing for a post to go Airlie Beach Festival Of Music's Passport To Airlie! Over 20 bands come together to bring you live and glorious original music in effort to get them to the Music Festival in tropical paradise. Hailing from Sri Lanka, Dilruk relocated to Melbourne to attend university. Having completed a degree in accounting, he started working for one of the “Big Four.” However, after performing at an open mic night in 2010, that all changed… In a bittersweet turn of events, Dilruk was unceremoniously fired from his accounting job at the same time his comedy career was taking shape. Just as Dil had, it turns out his managers had noticed that his heart lay elsewhere. Dil is now a regular on the comedy scene around Melbourne and with a reputation for consistently nailing his shows, Dil has been invited to perform all over the country as well as internationally and in 2017 he completely sold out his run at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival with his brand new show The Art of the Dil. Dilruk has recorded an hour long special for the ABC and is a regular on Network Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention? he’s also appeared at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Just for Laughs festival. Dilruk has also just scored his own TV show as team captain on brand new panel show CRAM for Network Ten alongside fellow team captain Virginia Gay and host, Peter Helliar, not to mention becoming a regular, acting in ABC TV’s award winning Utopia.

Steve Allison is a legendary funnyman and a comedian who smashes every gig he does! A Palm Beach local with decades of comedy experience under his belt, Steve leaves audiences around the country doubled over in laughter. Steve's sometimes crass, always hilarious observations and outlandish tales leave every room in hysterics. He's a favourite all around Australia and we are thrilled to have him with us for the show!

Sax & Groove at The Avenue

The Avenue is proud to have performing every Tuesday night, the sophisticated sounds of Sax & Groove.

Gary is a highly sought-after full-time saxophonist from the Gold Coast where he has been based since 1998. Gary performs extensively throughout the South-East Queensland region, in addition to having been recorded on over 50 studio and live albums to date. He has also performed internationally in locations including Bali, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Hawaii and throughout North America. Throughout his career, Gary has worked in a huge range of musical genres and ensembles from classical through to EDM, and has also been involved with a number of tribute shows for artists including Elton John, Billy Joel, INXS, Phil Collins and Dire Straits.

Funky-T is a Gold Coast based DJ with a penchant for infusing fun and live-elements into his sets, and an ability to both read, and work, any dance floor – Funky-T’s versatility and signature sound, has made him a sought after act, right across South East Queensland.

At the very core, sits a genuine passion for House music, and over 6 years of industry experience as a DJ, and event owner/promoter.unky-T’s impressive skillset at the helm of his fresh venture, he is continuing to forge a name synonymous with creating quality House-styled events – underpinned by a focus upon exposing local talent.

Live Street Art Battle at The Avenue

As part of this years Sand Safari, The Avenue will have a Live Street Art Battle on the 18th of February starting at 3 pm as part of the official program.

Selected artists will be provided with a large canvas and will have 60 minutes in total to create their own work of art.

During the 60 minutes the audience will have the opportunity to walk around the beautiful venue of The Avenue Surfers Paradise and observe the artists at work.

There will be live entertainment during the afternoon and on completion of the battle, all the art work will be auctioned off and all money raised from the sale of the art work will be donated to Second Chances.

Second Chances is determined to raise awareness and funds for The Common Good for their life saving research in heart transplant and assistive technology.

Awarded Australia's Best Carlton on Tap

At the end of 2017 The Avenue was awarded Australia's best Carlton Draught on tap, by CUB.

Every Pub in Australia pouring Carlton Draught from Carlton's new innovative copper tanks, were put through a number of different judging criteria, to determine which Pub has the best Carlton Draught on tap.

We are very pleased and honoured to announce that The Avenue was awarded the best Carlton Draught on tap in Australia by the experts from CUB.

There were a number of different criteria analysed in order reach this conclusion as to who in Australia was pouring the best Carlton Draught. The different categories included, * The cleanliness of the cool room * How clean the beer reticulation system was * How well maintained the beer reticulation system was * How clean the beer lines were * the condition of the glassware * Lastly and most importantly for the customer, the taste and smell of the beer

Stand Up Comedy at The Avenue

The Avenue will be hosting a heat for Melbourne's International Comedy festivals, Raw Comedy 2018.

The event will be at The Avenue on February 20th 2018.

Raw Comedy is a National Open Mic Comedy competition and is Australia’s largest and most prestigious open mic competition!

With past competitors including Tom Ballard, Hannah Gadsby, Ronny Chieng, Celia Pacquola and Luke McGregor, you can see that RAW Comedy really helps to strike that perfect comedy balance.

The Avenue also has it's own Stand Up Comedy Night which is proudly presented by Based Comedy and is on every Wednesday night from 7.30 pm.
