WEDNESDAY NIGHT COMEDY

The Avenue | 24 April | 7:30pm

All the way from New York City, we’re ecstatic to have Patrick Melton (Nobody Likes Onions, Sirius/XM) joining us for Wednesday Night Comedy at The Avenue! South African Dusty Rich is joining us to host the show – we can’t wait for a huge night of laughs in the Back Room. Book a table before we fill up - (07) 5592 1678.

Patrick Melton has always used his unique observations coupled with a quick, biting wit to make those around him laugh. With his skewed world view, he chooses not to see the glass as half empty, but rather half full – of poison. With a wry smile and an unapologetic delivery, he weaves real life stories with raw crowd interaction to give audiences a performance that is uniquely hilarious. Originally from Florida, Patrick has been performing standup comedy for over ten years at venues around the world. After five years of calling Los Angeles a home base, Patrick has now relocated to New York City to focus more on standup and writing. Patrick has performed and written for some of the best names in comedy, and in 2013 was named a national Semi-Finalist in Comedy Central’s Up Next competition. He has appeared on Sirius XM satellite radio, Comedy Central Radio, Spike TV, VH1, and The Bob & Tom Show. He’d probably love to do your podcast. Patrick is the creator and host of the top-rated comedy internet radio show Nobody Likes Onions, available at nobodylikesonions.com. One of the longest-running comedy podcasts, Patrick and comedian guests from around the world  have been making listeners laugh since 2005. Each week he entertains tens of thousands of listeners worldwide through the award-winning program.

South African comedian Dusty Rich has decided to make Australia his new home, and thank God for that – we don’t know what we’d do without him. He’s had his own Comedy Central special in South Africa, he’s toured all over the world and, in the few years he has been here, become a favourite of the Australian comedy circuit to boot. Wild, improvisational and unpredictable, Dusty leaves every audience doubled over with laughter.

Comedy in the back room at The Avenue is a Wednesday night staple in Surfers Paradise – every week from 7:30pm! With huge lineups and some of the best comedians from around the country and abroad, prepare your laughing gear to see some of the best from around the country and around the world. WEDNESDAY NIGHT COMEDY

The Avenue | 17 April | 7:30pm

Coming to you direct from Canada, international headliner Bryan O’Gorman is taking on Wednesday Night Comedy at The Avenue! Quickfire and always hilarious, Terry Hansen (973fm) hosts the show – it’s going to be a belter night of comedy in the Back Room! Book a table before we fill up - (07) 5592 1678.

Bryan O'Gorman has headlined comedy shows all over the world in dozens of countries including England, Canada, Singapore, Switzerland, Australia, Romania, Serbia and the USA to name eight. This year he plans on playing in every country on earth, plus the moon (if the spaceship he's building works). In January 2017, Bryan's second album opened at number one on iTunes comedy charts. A live performer since childhood, this joke of a man honed his stand up skills in the legendary Toronto comedy scene and has refined them on stages throughout the galaxy. Catch him now before he dies in a feeble attempt to make it to the moon in a homemade rocket. Of his many credits, a few include being featured on MTV, Much Music, The Comedy Network, Sirius-XM Radio, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Melbourne Comedy Festival, National Lampoon Radio, the Montreaux comedy festival and the CBC.

★★★★★ "O'Gorman delivers gold right off the bat. Hilarious stand-up that is true to the form" - West Australian

"Insightful comedy that is actually funny!" - Georgia Straight

Terry Hansen is one of the fastest in stand up comedy. With 30 years of comedy experience under his belt and 15 years on Brisbane radio on 973fm as Bianca, Terry and Bob, Terry has been an absolute gun in Australian comedy for longer than nearly anybody else. How has Terry worked with the Biggest Names in Australian Stand-up without ever becoming one of them?! Because Terry works exclusively on the circuit as a rapid fire comedian!

His follow up, Career, Suicide in 2014, also garnered great reviews and consolidated David's place as one of our most interesting, honest and challenging standups. In 2015 David premiered his eagerly awaited show Thrasher at Melbourne Comedy Festival – a site specific show performed in the actual skateboard shop where he has worked for most of his adult life. He followed this up with Approaching Perfection in 2016, a unanimous four star show that toured the country and the UK. "His observations are revealing, his realisations endearing – Quirk is a comic not to be missed." The Skinny (UK). David also starred with Sam Simmons in the ABC TV series Problems, appeared in ABC1's Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane, and as Josh Thomas' love interest on Please Like Me. Most recently he played the awkward but oddly lovely character of Damian in Celia Pacquola and Luke Mcgreggor's acclaimed Tasmanian ABC series Rosehaven.

Insightful, hilarious - he's opened for Weird Al Yankovic, performed to packed stadiums and he's here to host this week!
